Selection of Quilts for the Festival Competitions

The quilts, applying for participation in the competitions, are to go through 3 stages.

I stage of the competition — preliminary selection of works from photographs.

The first stage is open to all participants who have registered personal account on the Festival website and paid the registration fee. For each competition the author may submit no more than 3 works and three photographs of each work (general plan and details). Photos must be submitted before June 20, 2015.

The jury at the first qualifying stage consists of 5 people, the acknowledged masters of patchwork, Russia. Members of the jury will be able to view photos of entries participants in their private accounts, but personal data of the participants are not available for them. The jury members are working in the mode of on-line, and in the case of more than three "likes", the work of the participant is allowed to the second round of the competition. The author finds out about admission to the next round through his private account. If the work of the author is not admitted to the second round, the author receives a notification via e-mail. Viewing and selection of works on the first stage of the competition is held every two weeks starting April 1 and lasts until 1 July 2015 inclusive.

In the case of passing the first stage of the competition, the author needs to send the quilt(s) to the organizing committee of the Festival in Moscow at the address: 125009 Moscow street. Tverskaya st., 9, p 5, Russian Post, Box 08-2015, and mark the postage with a sign "Quilt Festival in Suzdal", with the date of sending (postal stamp on the parcel) not later than 25 June 2015 and reported to the email address of the organizing committee fest@quilts2015.ru . Please, send a tracking number so the postage can be received on time in Moscow.

Stage II of the competition — selection of quilts for exhibitions at the Festival.

Members of the expert jury consisting of 5 people select quilts submitted for the contest, and reserve the right to reject the work, already approved in the first round of the competition. The decision of the jury is sent to the author via the private account and e-mail. The decision of the jury will be announced no later than 20 July 2015.

Stage III of the competition — the choice of winners.

The jury works at the sites of the festival. Chairman of the Jury controls and announces the results of competitions. The jury consists of experts — professionals in the field of patchwork, including foreign representatives.

The results of competitions will be announced on August 4-5, 2015 and the information is recorded on the festival website. The awarding ceremony of winners will be on August,9 2015 at the closing ceremony.

Additional important information for participants:

Each participant who registered the private account, paid the registration fee and sent quilt(s) to compete, will receive a diploma of a participant. The diploma will be sent to the email address of the participant in PDF.

The quilts sent to Moscow Organizing Committee, after passing the first stage of the competition, but not selected for the second round will be delivered by the organizers to Suzdal and provided to the authors, who will come to the Festival for the possibility of showing their work at non-competitive basis ("one day exhibition"). Information on these exhibition venues will be known upon the arrival to Suzdal.

The quilts of the authors, who will not come in person to the Festival and have not passed the second stage of the competition, will be returned to the authors in Moscow after the Festival, but not earlier than 1 September 2015.

Delivery of quilts from Moscow is carried out by the authors.

The return of the quilts from exhibition sites of the Festival will be held in Suzdal on August 10, 2015 from 11 to 15 hours. The authors who does not pick up the quilt in Suzdal after the end of the Festival, will be able to pick them up in Moscow from the Festival organizing committee.

The quilts which take part in the exhibition venues of the Festival, will be included in the exhibition projects for future display in Russia and abroad (in agreement with the authors). The return of these quilts will be not later than September 1, 2016. Authors may give consent to the sale of their quilts.
